Police Responding to Reported Shooting at Tuscaloosa Apartments Monday
Police in Tuscaloosa are on the scene of a shooting at an apartment complex where one person was reportedly shot, and another is in custody.
A spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department said they responded to a call of a shooting at Regal Pointe apartments off Skyland Boulevard at around 5:25 p.m.
She said one person was wounded and another is reportedly in custody.
The multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is en route to take over the investigation, TPD said.
The Violent Crimes Unit is a team comprised of detectives from the Tuscaloosa, Northport, and University of Alabama Police Departments and the County Sheriff's Office. They forego jurisdictional boundaries and investigate almost all local deaths that occur outside of a hospital setting, as well as assault cases and sex crimes. Their involvement in a death case does not necessarily indicate suspicion of foul play.
