NWS ISSUES SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IN West Alabama

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Walker County in central Alabama; northwestern Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama; southeastern Marion County in northwestern Alabama; northeastern Pickens County in west central Alabama; Fayette County in west central Alabama; and southeastern Lamar County in west central Alabama, until 1:00 AM CDT.

At 12:12 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Brilliant to near Glen Allen to near Fayette to near Belk to near Millport, moving east at 40 mph. The storms pose a hazard of 60 mph wind gusts, as indicated by radar, and damage to roofs, siding, and trees is expected.

Locations impacted include Jasper, Winfield, Fayette, Sumiton, Cordova, Dora, Carbon Hill, Millport, Berry, Parrish, Brilliant, Oakman, Glen Allen, Kennedy, Sipsey, Kansas, Nauvoo, Belk, Eldridge, and Curry.

NWS ISSUES SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IN SUMTER COUNTY

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Sumter County in west central Alabama until 7:30 PM CDT.

At 6:45 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Causeyville, or 11 miles southeast of Meridian, moving east at 30 mph. The storm poses a hazard of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, as indicated by radar. Hail damage to vehicles is expected, along with wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include Cuba, Kinterbish, and Ward.

NWS ISSUES SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR LISTENING AREA

The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 175 in effect until 11 PM CDT this evening for the following areas.

In Alabama, this watch includes 15 counties in Central Alabama: Bibb, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Lowndes, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston.

This includes the cities of Aliceville, Brent, Carrollton, Centreville, Demopolis, Eutaw, Fayette, Fort Deposit, Greensboro, Haleyville, Hamilton, Jasper, Linden, Livingston, Lowndesboro, Marion, Moundville, Selma, Sulligent, Tuscaloosa, Uniontown, Vernon, and York.

NWS ISSUES SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IN MARION COUNTY

A band of heavy hail has triggered a severe thunderstorm warning, perhaps earlier than expected, in Marion County.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern Marion County in northwestern Alabama until 3:45 PM CDT.

* At 303 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Hamilton,
moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include Hamilton, Weston, Lake Buttahatchee, Brinn, Bear Creek, Tessner, Pearces Mill, Rankin Fite Airport, and Upper Bear Creek Reservoir.
