Michael C. Ballew (December 8th, 1962 – June 29th, 2023)

Michael C. Ballew, age 60, of Vance, passed away June 29, 2023 at UAB in Birmingham.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 1:30 pm at Magnolia Chapel South. Burial will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel South prior to the service.

He is preceded in death by his mother; Joyce Ballew and sisters; Janna Ballew and Infant sister Ballew.

Survivors include his wife Deborah Ballew, daughters; Breean McSpadden (Austin), Heather Cole (James), sons; Brett Ballew (Kristina), Brady Ballew (Amanda), Bryan Ballew (Whitney), brother; Darryl Ballew (Sonya), father; Charles Ballew, grandchildren; Jaxon and Emily Ballew, Hadley and Isaiah Ballew, Makiyah, Victoria, and Alexis McSpadden, Conner and Hannah Cole, Baylor and Darcy Ballew.

Mike was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, Papa Bear and friend. He loved his family, Alabama Football, entertaining people, and traveling. He lived his life to the fullest and always enjoyed listening to music. He never met a stranger, never backed down from a challenge, and protected his people. Papa Bear was truly larger than life.

Pallbearers will be Brett Ballew, Brady Ballew, Austin McSpadden, James Cole, Eric Taylor (ET), JT Daffron, Michael Gore, and Tim Martin. Honorary pallbearers Dustin Christian, Chad McManus, Joe Schill, Bob Hoggle, JR Brock, and Jock Young.

The family requests casual attire and no black clothing.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Palliative Care at UAB, or Wounded Warrior Project.
