Melinda Jones Oswalt, age 60, of Northport, Ala., lost her battle with cancer on March 3, 2022, leaving a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends.

Mindy was born on August 28, 1961, to Price Jones and Carol Rossman Jones in Tuscaloosa.

She was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School and was an employee of the DCH Health System for over 30 years.

Mindy was predeceased by her father, Price Jones; grandparents, Searcy and Mary Jones, and grandparents, Paul and Alma Rossman.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Oswalt; son, Daniel Oswalt; mother, Carol Jones; brother, Michael Jones (Melissa); nephew, Clayton Jones; aunt, Cathy Humphries (Leo); special friend and second mother, Marlene Jones; stepdaughters, Leif Cole and Jade Jorgensen; her beloved fur babies, especially her dog Talia, as well as other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Mindy was an eternal optimist and always put a positive spin on whatever came along. She loved people and never met a stranger. Spending time in nature, writing poetry, drawing, the color green, and having a big cup of hot tea were some of the things she loved most to do on any given day. Mindy was one-of-a-kind with a wry sense of humor and will be forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2022, at Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church in Northport with Scott McQueen officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a graveside service following.
