Alabama Baseball started out quickly against the Racers of Murray State on Saturday.

The duo of Jim Jarvis and Drew Williamson got the Tide started in the first inning with Jim Jarvis quickly making his presence known with a single, then stealing second, and finally Williamson with the sacrifice RBI to get Alabama in front 1-0.

Murray State quickly answered in the top of second, tying the game at 1-1.

The duo of Jarvis and Williamson struck again as Jarvis got on base and Williamson brought him home.

For the rest of the game, Alabama pitching held on the mound, with Antoine Jean, the starter for Alabama pitching for 4.1 Innings, and only allowing 1 run, with 2 walks.

In the fifth, Hunter Furtado, the relief for Jean was faced with a bases loaded, one out situation. But Furtado kept calm, and got the Tide out of the inning with no runs allowed.

From then on Alabama's bats got hot, and stayed hot.

A walk with the bases loaded also helped the Tide immensely.

In the eighth, Alabama added more insurance from none other than Owen Diodati.

Then Camden Hayslip beat out a throw to get on first with another runner coming in to score.

Closer Hunter Hoopes came on for the Tide and ended things easily, with a 6-1 for the Tide, clinching the series.

When asked about how his players handled beating out the close throws the Alabama faced multiple times, Brad Bohannon said "I think every coach would say this but you just train." Coach Bohannon also singled out good recruiting and Brett Price, the strength and conditioning coach for Alabama Baseball.

Hunter Furtado, who transferred from Wake Forest, also talked about his mindset when faced with a based loaded situation in the 5th inning.

"As a freshman going through these new experiences there was a lot of times where I failed and I learned look you just have to give it your best." Furtado continued, "I can't stress this enough, having the guys behind me, I trust them so much."

The Tide will look for a series sweep of the Racers on Sunday,
