OH, THE MEMORIES!

 

Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has changed quite a bit from my first days at Tuscaloosa County High in Northport.

When I came back to town in 2021, I had some issues even recognizing parts of the hometown I have loved since the 1980s.

 

MALLS ARE MISSED!

 

 

The malls of West Alabama were THE spots to "cruise" back in 1988 and 1989 in Tuscaloosa. That is where we all ended up on Saturday night during football season.

Tuscaloosa business mogul Stan Pate owns the property today, and Pate tells us good things are coming in that space in 2026 and beyond.

As of today, the final pieces of the historic McFarland Mall are coming down.

The staff of the Tuscaloosa Thread was on the property earlier today and captured a couple of the final photos of McFarland Mall's property history in real time.

Tuscaloosa and West Alabama will probably never see malls come back around, thanks to the convenience of services that companies like Amazon provide for everyone.

If you have lived in the Tuscaloosa area for many years, you probably have a long list of things/businesses that you miss.
