Westbound traffic on a small part of Tuscaloosa's McFarland Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane overnight on Wednesday to allow a state crew to update signage in the area.

The Alabama Department of Transportation shared an early warning about the work Monday morning and said they will set up at the intersection of US Highway 82 (McFarland) and 13th Street in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday at 9 p.m. - that's near the Whataburger and Shoppes of Legacy Park.

John McWilliams, an ALDOT spokesperson, said the lane closure should last less than 12 hours late Wednesday night and early the next morning.

The state agency will replace the overhead signs at that intersection and expect to work from 9 p.m. on Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday if weather permits. During that time, westbound traffic on US-82 will be reduced to a single lane.

McWilliams said drivers should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
