Teacher at Tuscaloosa's Northridge High to Appear on Jeopardy!

A Northridge High School teacher is about to put her knowledge to the test on national television and compete in the world-famous Jeopardy! game show.

Jennifer Canterbury, a Spanish teacher at Northridge, will appear as a contestant on Jeopardy! on Wednesday, July 22. The Tuscaloosa City Schools Board of Education shared the news on social media Thursday, encouraging students, staff and families across the district to tune in and cheer her on.

Northridge High School, located on McFarland Boulevard in northern Tuscaloosa, serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is home to the Jaguars. The school is one of three high schools in the Tuscaloosa City Schools system.

Jeopardy!, which has aired on syndicated television since 1984, is one of the longest-running and most recognized game shows in American history. The show tapes episodes daily and contestants are selected through an online test and an in-person audition process.

Longtime host Alex Trebek presided over the show for 37 years before he died in 2020; Ken Jennings, the show's most celebrated contestant and holder of the longest winning streak in the show's history, has hosted since 2024.
