Moundville Public Boat Ramp on Black Warrior River Reopens After Renovation
A popular fishing and boating access point on the Black Warrior River near Moundville has reopened following a major renovation, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced Friday.
The Moundville Public Boat Ramp, located near the city, has been updated with a new launching slab that has been reoriented to allow for easier loading and unloading of boats.
The new position also reduces the likelihood of damage from larger vessels on the river.
Funding came through the Sport Fish Restoration Program, which draws from excise taxes on outboard motor fuel, fishing equipment sales, and Alabama fishing license revenue, along with additional funding from Innovate Alabama, a statewide public-private partnership supporting business growth in the state.
Moundville is approximately 15 miles south of the city of Tuscaloosa.
