Person Killed, Others Injured in Tuesday House Fire in Lake View

A major structure fire at a home in Lake View entrapped half a dozen people on Tuesday, one of whom died in the house.

First responders are asking people to avoid the area of Royal Drive, Allison Drive and Douglas Drive in Lake View, a town in eastern Tuscaloosa County near the Jefferson County line.

The Lakeview Fire District is a combination of paid and volunteer firefighters who serve Lake View, Woodstock, and unincorporated areas of nearby Tuscaloosa County - they said their teams and other agencies are working a major house fire Tuesday night.

In an update Monday afternoon, the firefighters said six people were inside the home at the time of the fire, and currently five are accounted for.

They said the first responders on the scene were met with heavy fire at all egress points of the home.

Multiple agencies are still working the fire, and they said the state Fire Marshal's Office will also respond to conduct an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

UPDATE: The Lakeview Fire District said late Tuesday night that a body had been recovered from the scene. At least one person who was entrapped and saved was hospitalized with injuries.
