Police have a suspect in custody after a shooting on the Tuscaloosa Strip early Sunday morning.

Kennedy said the VCU, Tuscaloosa Police and University of Alabama Police responded to the Strip on University Boulevard at 1:45 Sunday morning on reports of a shooting.
At 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Kennedy said a 23-year-old female was the victim of the shooting and she has died.
He said the victim was shot while inside a vehicle in the area of Grace Street and University Boulevard and officers in a nearby UAPD police vehicle quickly moved to help the victim, but she did not survive
Kennedy said the VCU has located multiple witnesses and possible suspect(s) are in custody.
The victim's death marks the fifth homicide investigated in Tuscaloosa County so far this year.
