Oats on his Technical Foul: ‘I Should Have Just Passed Over My Transgressions.’
Following Alabama’s 100-97 win over Texas A&M on Wednesday night, the Crimson Tide’s head coach spoke to the media about the win, and touched on what caused his technical foul in the Crimson Tide’s win, and he also shared a bible verse that he keeps on his coaching card.

Oats was called for a technical foul at the 11-minute mark of the second half, which sent Texas A&M and former Crimson Tide guard Rylan Griffin to the line and gave the Aggies a 67-64 lead.
Oats said in his press conference that “I didn’t say anything necessarily that I thought was deserving of it, but probably just said one last comment, that I probably should've just kept my mouth shut.”
Alabama’s head coach then went on to talk about the Bible verse he has on his coach card, which is Proverbs 19:11, which reads, “The discretion of a man derreth his anger and his glory to pass over a transgression.” Oats went on to add that “I should have just passed over the transgressions.” Oats added, “Sometimes, don’t pull it out and read it like I need to, so I didn't do a good enough job.”
Oats shared that this was only his second technical foul of the year, with his first occurring on January 7th during Alabama’s 96-90 loss to Vanderbilt. This technical tonight is Oats’ 29th technical foul of his 6.5 seasons with the Tide.
“This is only my second all year, though, so I know somewhere out there in the Twitter space they keep tracking my T’s, and we usually win.” Oats said, “I think the last time I had a T this year we did not win, so I would not have been happy with myself if we’d have lost this game by only two free points.
Thankfully for Oats and the Crimson Tide, they did indeed win, taking down a very talented Texas A&M team in a back-and-forth battle that saw over 28 lead changes, with both teams holding the lead for over 17 minutes of the game.
Alabama will be back in action this Saturday in Neville Arena for the Iron Bowl of Basketball, where the Crimson Tide will take on a 14-8 Auburn at 3 p.m. CT.
