An update from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency states that all northbound lanes of I 20/59 between Tuscaloosa and Brookwood remain closed.

Northbound lanes are closed from Exit 79 (Tuscaloosa/Cottondale) to Exit 86 (Brookwood).

"The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) are currently diverting traffic at Exit 76 on U.S. 11 then back onto I-59 at Exit 89," said ALEA Corporal Jeremy J. Burkett in a Sunday morning statement to media.

Motorists must take US Highway 11 as a detour while the closure remains in place.
