Major Accident Closes Half of I-20/59 in Greene County Wednesday

The westbound lanes of Interstate 59 are completely blocked Wednesday morning after a wreck involving two commercial vehicles.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama State Troopers, said the crash took place around 6:45 Wednesday on the interstate near Mile Marker 48.

Two commercial vehicles wrecked and have blocked all southbound lanes of I-59, which also serve as the westbound lanes of I-20.

ALDOT, the Greene County Ambulance Service, Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue and more are working the scene.

King said traffic is being diverted at Exit 52 and the closure will last an undetermined amount of time.
