A police officer in Hale County, Alabama, was wounded in a shootout with a suspect in a traffic stop Thursday night, according to a report from the Moundville Times.

The Hale County paper reports that a Greensboro Police Officer pulled over a suspect and the two opened fire on one another.

The publication claims both were wounded and transported by air ambulance.

Greensboro is about 40 miles south of Tuscaloosa in Hale County.

No other details were immediately available Thursday night.
