Tuscaloosa Jewelers Named Family of the Year by Local Philanthropic Leaders
Longtime Tuscaloosa jewelers and pillars of the community Jamie and Gene "Poodgie" Poole have been named the Family of the Year by an illustrious society of local philanthropists and leaders.
The United Way of West Alabama said they have selected the Pooles as its Alexis de Tocqueville Society Family of the Year.

The designation recognizes local families for philanthropy and leadership that improves the quality of life for residents of West Alabama.
The Pooles, who own Hudson-Poole Fine Jewelers, are generous civic leaders with decades of community service, UWWA said.
That includes support of Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama, the Children’s Hands On Museum, the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, and the UWWA, among many others. The Pooles have also been Adopt-A-School partners with Flatwood Elementary since the program launched.
Jamie Poole has served as a leader with Arts 'n Autism and Easterseals West Alabama, and Poodgie has chaired the board of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, the Tuscaloosa Convention and Visitors Bureau, and led the Downtown Tuscaloosa Merchants Association.
"Together, Jamie and Poodgie exemplify the spirit of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society through their unwavering dedication to philanthropy, volunteerism, and community leadership. Their legacy of giving continues to inspire others and strengthen West Alabama for generations to come," the UWWA said in their announcement.
