Northside High Principal Jeremy Madden assumed his present role in the Tuscaloosa County School System in 2024. Now he wants to go back to Fayette County where he served in the school system there for more than two decades. Madden has qualified to run for superintendent in the Fayette County School System.

A finalist for the recently filled Tuscaloosa County School System superintendents' position that went to Dr. Daniel Bray, Madden is a candidate for the Republican nomination in the Fayette County May 19th party primaries.

Madden earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of North Alabama and then a master’s and doctoral degrees in educational administration at the University of Alabama.

The 27-year veteran educator served as principal at his alma mater, Russellville High School. Before that, he served for a decade as the principal of Fayette County High School. He also taught at Belgreen High School, Haleyville Elementary School, and was Assistant Principal at Fayette County Elementary.

During his time at Northside High, he has overseen significant improvement in the school's state academic report card, going from a 77 scored to 88.

Madden was a 2019 graduate of the Alabama Superintendent's Academy which takes qualified educators through intensive instruction and skills development utilizing the most recent research and instructional delivery technology.

So far, Madden is the only announced candidate for superintendent in either party, but perspective candidates��have until this coming Friday at 5 p.m. to sign qualifying papers.

Dr. Madden and his wife Dwan, have two sons named Logan and Luke.

The party primary elections will be conducted on Tuesday, May 19, with runoff elections, if necessary, on Tuesday, June 16. The general election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
