Alabama GOP Pushes for SAVE Act Passage

Surprisingly, the reaction from most Alabama Republicans has been relatively muted, considering the volatility of Trumps speech.

Most Alabama Republicans used Trump's address to promote the SAVE America Act, a federal election bill focused on tightening voter registration and identification requirements in U.S. federal elections. It passed the House but opposition from Democrats and some Republicans have hung it up in the Senate.

One of Trump's most ardent supporters in congress, Alabama Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville posted on X (formerly twitter) his concerns about the president's claims that China has gained access to our voting system.

"They show that over a period of years starting during the 2020 election cycle, the People’s Republic of China carried out what is believed to be the largest compromise of election data in history—resulting in China’s illicit acquisition of 220 million U.S. voter files," Tuberville wrote.

Barry Moore, the GOP nominee to replace Tuberville, who is running for governor, wrote on X, "Newly released government documents reveal that China accessed information connected to more than 220 million American voters and sought to interfere in our elections."

"President @realDonaldTrump is exposing the threat.

"Now the Senate must act. Only United States citizens should decide United States elections. Pass the SAVE America Act and secure our elections before it is too late."

West Alabama Congressional Representatives Split Along Party Lines

West Alabama Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said on X, "The House has passed the SAVE America Act. The Senate needs to do the same. Asking people to prove they are legal voters is not a burden; it's common sense.

Aderholt's Democrat counterpart, Congresswoman Terri Sewell, called Trump's allegations "baseless, debunked conspiracies," Her comments were also posted on X in which she called the presidential claims "dangerous falsehoods".
