Born on June 2, 1944, in Columbia, South Carolina, Bobby moved to Alabama with his family at the age of eight and spent the majority of his life in the state he proudly called home.

Bobby was a man of faith who lived his life according to his Christian values. He believed in treating others with kindness, offering a helping hand whenever it was needed, and putting family, friends, and neighbors before himself. He had a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and a genuine concern for others that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His faith was reflected not only in his words, but in his actions.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Bobby loved making people laugh and never missed an opportunity to share a joke or tell a good story. Whether spending time with family, visiting with friends, or lending support to someone in need, he had a way of making others feel welcome and valued.

A hardworking man throughout his life, Bobby spent more than 30 years working in the coal mining industry. He took pride in providing for his family and was respected by coworkers and friends alike for his dedication, strength, and unwavering work ethic. He believed in the value of honest work and led by example through a lifetime of perseverance and determination.

In his younger years, Bobby enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures. He loved hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and attending gospel singings. These activities brought him great joy and allowed him to spend time with family, friends, and the community he loved.

Bobby loved spending time with family, watching sports, and cheering on the Crimson Tide. A devoted Alabama fan through and through, he faithfully followed Alabama football and basketball and could always be found pulling for Bama on game day.

Above all else, Bobby loved his family. He especially cherished the life he shared with his beloved wife, Lynne. Together they built a relationship that spanned more than three decades, sharing ten years of courtship and twenty-four years of marriage. He treasured time spent with those he loved and found great happiness in watching his family grow through the years. His love, guidance, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, David B. Chavis and Junie Chavis; his daughter, Rhonda Richardson; and his son, Rusty Chavis.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne Chavis of Moundville, Alabama; his son, Ron Dockery and wife Tammy Dockery of Prattville, Alabama; his sister, June Evans of Adamsville, Alabama; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Pallbearers will be Mike Poole, Alan Tingle, Mark Dockery, Jeff Miller, Hunter Johnson and Dannie Spence.

Though he will be deeply missed, the family finds comfort in knowing that Bobby's faith was strong and that he is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior. His legacy of faith, hard work, love for family, and ability to bring laughter to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
