UPDATE, 6:30 P.M.: The roadway is clear and lanes have reopened.

A state highway in far northern Tuscaloosa County is closed Monday evening after power lines fell across the roadway during storms.

Sergeant Reginal M. King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said downed power lines have caused police to close Alabama Highway 69 at mile marker 178 near the Fayette County line.

King said the roadway will be closed for an undetermined period.

 

Motorists should plan different routes as crews work to clear the roadway and repair the lines.

Troopers are currently on scene assisting with traffic control and will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.
