Investigators reported that one of the men pretended to need medical attention. As he was being attended to the other three forced their way through the center and fled to a waiting getaway vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, identified as Keivena Lewis, was caught within two hours of the escape.

Bush was recaptured late Sunday afternoon when Midfield Police patrolling the Bessemer Super Highway got a hit on the department's Flock license plate recognition system to a stolen vehicle. Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen from Selma on May 30.

"This demonstrates the value of modern technology and proactive policing efforts," Midfield Police Chief Michael Jeffries said in a Facebook statement. "The Flock System continues to be an effective tool in helping our officers apprehend perpetrators and enhance public safety. We are proud of the professionalism displayed by our officers and our partnership with our law enforcement partners."

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the remaining escapees is urged to not approach them but rather call 911 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
