A Sylacauga man has been arrested on beastiality charges for allegedly having sex with at least two dogs, and killing one of them.

Ronald Clayton Gilbert III, 32, was charged Wednesday with the crime of beastiality, a misdemeanor, and aggravated cruelty to animals, which is a felony. According to court documents, the alleged abuse took place between January 2020 and November 2021.

The documents allege that Gilbert knowingly engaged in or submitted to sexual contact with the animals, and he may have aided or abetted others into engaging in the same activity.

Bibb County District Attorney Michael Jackson confirmed to The Thread that the aggravated cruelty charge stems from the alleging that Gilbert took one of the dogs out into the woods and kicked it to death.

Gilbert was booked into the Bibb County Jail on November 5, where he remains on a $10,000 bond.

Jackson also said that he expects more arrests in this case, likely with similar charges.
