Bibb County Man Charged With Child Sex Abuse Unrelated to Underground Ring
A Bibb County man has been indicted and arrested for the alleged sexual and physical abuse of children in a case which is unrelated to the nightmare child sex trafficking ring in the nearby town of Brent.
According to court documents filed this week, a grand jury met and indicted 39-year-old Kendrick Lee Pate on five felony charges related to the alleged abuse of multiple children.
Pate was charged with two counts of sexually abusing a child under the age of 12, one count of first-degree sodomy, one count of aggravated child abuse of a child under the age of six, and one count of felony child abuse torture.

After the indictments were made and warrants issued, an Alabama State Trooper reportedly arrested Pate during a traffic stop. He was held in Shelby County until he could be taken to the Bibb County Jail, where he is being detained without bond.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office declined to comment on the case and said their investigators were busy working cases, but a spokesperson for the district attorney there confirmed that Pate's case is not related to the organized abuses allegedly carried out in Brent.
