BREAKING: Will Roberts Vigil Tonight Moved Inside Due to Weather
A vigil tonight for Will Roberts has been moved due to thunderstorms moving across the area late this afternoon. Originally planned to take place at Sipsey Valley High School, the event will now be moved inside to the Sipsey Valley Middle School gymnasium beginning at 7 p.m.
The vigil will pay tribute to the life, the life's battle and the memory of a 15-year-old Ralph resident who inspired a nation and many people around the world with his faith and determination.
He first gained attention after he accessed his mother’s Facebook page and posted a plea asking for help finding a cancer drug that could treat his rare case of with stage IV osteosarcoma (a rare bone cancer). The post immediately went viral, attracting more and more people daily, including media.
His plea eventually reached the Oval Office, prompting President Trump, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy, Jr. and Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Arraignments were made for Will to receive an experimental treatment in California. His parents Brittany and Jason Roberts provided regular updates during his stay at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.
At first things looked promising before the cancer spread. He went to his eternal life last Thursday.
Visitation will run from 9:00am until noon tomorrow with services beginning at noon in the gymnasium of the Martin campus of Shelton State Community College. Burial will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Ralph.
Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home in Northport will livestream the service. at www.magnoliafh.com go to Will’s obituary page and scroll to the bottom, you will see a live link. Click the link prior to service time and it will come on before the service starts.
