
Gov. Ivey Hands Out $2.3 Million Grant For Crime Victim Support
Four programs in West Alabama and five in Central Alabama will share a portion of $2.3 million in grant money to assist crime victims. Gov. Ivey announced the grants will support programs assisting victims of crimes such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Receiving the funds in West Alabama are:
- Family Resource Center of Northwest Alabama, Inc. - $128,529 to help victims of domestic violence in Walker County navigate the criminal and civil systems and file compensation claims.
- University of Alabama - $219,240 to back services offered by UA to victims of crimes such as sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking in Tuscaloosa County.
- Tuscaloosa SAFE Center - $155,790 to fund a sexual assault crisis center service nine West Alabama counties (Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.
- Turning Point - $36,744 to help the family assistance program help sexual assault victims in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.
The Alabama Department of Economic Development (ADECA) will administer the funds. It is part of their mission to support a broad range of programs assisting law enforcement, victim assistance, economic development, and more across the state.
Gov. Ivey is expected to mention the importance of such grants during her final State of the State Address in Montgomery Tuesday night.
