Alabama and Boston College Agree to Home and Home Series
The University of Alabama and Boston College announced today plans to play a home-and-home football series in 2031 and 2034. The Crimson Tide will travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass on Sept. 13, 2031 and the Eagles will return to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 16, 2034. The two universities have met four times with Boston College currently holding a series edge by winning three games.
“Our future schedules continue to fill out nicely with quality home-and-home series, many of which present us with opportunities to play opponents and go places we haven’t been to in a while or ever,” said Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne. “The 2031 matchup in Chestnut Hill will be a great trip for our team and our fans, and we look forward to hosting the Eagles here in Tuscaloosa in 2034.”
The two schools have not met on the gridiron since a two-game series happened in 1983 and 1984, Boston College won them both in Foxboro, MA and Birmingham respectively. Alabama's only win over the Eagles game in the 1943 Orange Bowl, the Crimson Tide won 37-21.
"The numerous home-and-home matchups that have been scheduled in recent years are going to make for some great football games for our program and our fan base," Alabama head football coach Nick Saban said. "We are excited to add a trip to Chestnut Hill for the 2031 season and look forward to the challenge that awaits us with the Boston College series."
The Crimson Tide adds Boston College to an ever-growing list of future non-conference opponents. Alabama takes on Miami this coming season and then will have home-and-home matchups with Texas, Wisconsin, Florida State, West Virginia, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Arizona and Virginia Tech as well as a 2-for-1 series with South Florida.
