An accident south of Eutaw has closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20/59.

Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Traffic Reporter "Captain" Ray Allen says the accident occurred near the Eutaw exit. Drivers are encouraged to use US Highway 11 as an alternate route.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Reginal King says multiple vehicles were involved in the accident and emergency responders are still on the scene.

"The northbound lanes will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time," King said. The Alabama Department of Transportation is on scene assisting with traffic redirection," King said.

ALEA is asking everyone to avoid this area and if possible, seek an alternate route. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.
