A Fayette woman died Thursday, several days after a multi-car collision on a state highway injured her, Alabama State Troopers said.

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said 84-year-old Phyllis B. Thompson was driving a 2009 Ford Focus on Fayette County Road 21 when she struck a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville that a 26-year-old man from Bankston, Alabama was driving.

Her Focus then struck a nearby pickup truck which was unoccupied.

Thompson was injured and taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Miss. for treatment, and the other driver was hurt and transported to Fayette Medical Center.

The wreck happened on Sunday around 5:15 p.m., and Thompson died Thursday at the hospital.

Bailey said the collision happened on Alabama Highway 96 near its intersection with Fayette County Road 21, around six miles west of Fayette.

No other information was available and Bailey said Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the wreck.
