West Alabama Schools Announce Delay Ahead of Hurricane’s Impact
Some West Alabama schools will delay the start of class Thursday as they brace for the local impact of Hurricane Francine.
The Hale County Board of Education announced Wednesday evening that their schools will open two hours late in anticipation of the hurricane causing inclement weather in west Alabama before dawn.
Buses will still run, but will do so on a two-hour delay as well.
Jasper City Schools will be closed Thursday.
Perry County Schools will be closed Thursday.
Marengo County Schools will have a e-learning day.
Demopolis City Schools will also have a virtual learning day.

A wind advisory issued Wednesday forecasts winds of 15-25 miles per hour with gusts up to 40 miles per hour locally.
Francine made landfall in southern Louisiana Wednesday afternoon as a Category 2 hurricane.
