According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, two men were taken into custody after leading police on a chase through Tuscaloosa Friday night.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said an officer on patrol near Creekwood Village attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by two men.

The driver refused to stop and began leading officers on a pursuit down Mallisham Parkway, Interstate 20/59, Skyland Boulevard, and surrounding smaller roadways.

According to TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor, Officers used spike strips to flatten the suspect vehicle's tires. Both occupants bailed out of the car in front of the PNC Bank parking lot at the Skyland and McFarland intersection at 7:08 p.m.

One suspect was taken into custody immediately and the other was taken into custody after running a short distance.

Taylor said several officers were involved in the pursuit assisted by the TPD helicopter and TCSO Sheriff's deputies. Marijuana packaged for sale was recovered from the car.

According to Taylor, this is an ongoing investigation with officers still working to determine the charges.
