Another championship is coming to Tuscaloosa!

The 2021 NCAA gymnastic regionals championship is coming to Coleman Coliseum on April 1-3. Tuscaloosa is one of four cities selected to host the regional gymnastic championships. Athens, Georgia, Morgantown, West Virginia and Salt Lake City, Utah will host the other three regionals.

Alabama was initially scheduled to host the regionals in 2025 but the Crimson Tide was selected to replace Missouri as a host for this year following difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The University of Georgia also replaces the University of New Hampshire as a host this year.

This will mark Alabama's 16th time to host regionals and will be the University's first time to host since the format changed from one-day, one-session regionals to three days and four sessions.  Alabama Athletics said Saturday that ticket availability would be announced at a later date.

Alabama Gymnastics currently ranks No. 7 in the national polls. After a close loss at Georgia, the Tide rebounded with huge wins over No. 2 LSU and No. 6 Arkansas.

The Tide will close the regular season this Friday at Coleman Coliseum against the Florida Gators.

The SEC Championship, originally set to be held in New Orleans, will now take place in Huntsville, Alabama, on March 20. The first session is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., followed by a second session at 8: p.m. After the SEC Championship, Alabama will host regionals at home and seek to earn a spot in the national championship in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 16-17.

The Crimson Tide is after its seventh national championship and its first since 2012.
