Police Charge Man With Rape & Assault in Tuscaloosa Parking Deck Bathroom
A 28-year-old local man has been charged with a pair of sex crimes and felony assault after he allegedly raped a woman at knifepoint in a public parking deck in downtown Tuscaloosa.
According to court documents filed on Monday, a woman was using the restroom at the city's Intermodal Facility parking deck on 23rd Avenue early this Saturday morning when a man entered the bathroom with a knife.
Police say the assailant was allegedly Wynton Q. Rice, 28.

Rice is accused of physically and sexually assaulting the woman, who reportedly sustained a small cut from the knife during the attack.
According to the deposition filed Monday, police obtained surveillance footage showing Rice enter the women's restroom after the alleged victim before dawn this Saturday morning and remain inside for about 30 minutes.
In interviews later this weekend, Rice reportedly first told police he was never in the area at all on Saturday morning, then gave shifting and conflicting statements when confronted with the video evidence.
Ultimately, Wynton Rice was charged with one count each of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and second-degree assault.
He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Sunday and remained there at the time of publication Tuesday morning.
