Tuscaloosa PARA Offering Free First Responders Memberships
Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority has announced the launch of a new program aimed at supporting first responders in the community.
The complimentary First Responder Membership has been created in partnership with the Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency and is available to employees of participating partner agencies who reside in Tuscaloosa County.
Individual membership for the program will be open to all current first responder employees, including police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical services (EMS) workers. The program provides a unique opportunity for these essential workers to stay in shape and maintain their physical health, which is crucial to the day-to-day responsibilities of their jobs.
The program will officially launch on May 1, and PARA officials have reported receiving a positive response from local first responder representatives during introductory meetings held at the Tuscaloosa County Emergency Operations Center. The program has been designed to show support for the critical work of first responders in the community, and PARA is committed to building on this relationship moving forward.
“We are excited to get this program started on May 1," said Brian C. Davis, Executive Director and CEO of PARA. "Our First Responders are vitally important to our community, and this is one way we can give back to show our support. We hope to continue to build our relationship with all the men and women that serve us as First Responders.”
Nick Lolley, Tuscaloosa County EMA Director, also praised the program, saying, “This is a great opportunity for our First Responders in Tuscaloosa County. PARA has been a great partner with this which will allow the first responders an opportunity to stay in shape which they need for the day in, day out responsibilities of their jobs.”
To enroll in the program, employees of participating partner agencies can bring their ID to any of PARA’s seven Activity Centers. Once enrolled, they will have access to all the benefits of PARA membership, including access to fitness facilities and exercise classes, swimming pools, and outdoor activities.
The complimentary First Responder Membership program represents a significant investment in the physical health and well-being of first responders in Tuscaloosa County from PARA and the EMA.
