Face masks will soon be optional within the Tuscaloosa County School System.

TCSS made the announcement Wednesday, stating that it will "follow the new state health order, under which masks are not required, but encouraged."

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey's "Safer at Home" Order and its associated face mask mandate will expire at 5 p.m. Friday, April 9th.

The Tuscaloosa City School System has said it will continue its mask requirement through the end of the school year.
