Troopers Identify New York Man Killed In Wreck on I-20/59 Near Tuscaloosa
State Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency have identified the victim killed in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate-20/59 Wednesday afternoon as a 45-year-old New York man.
Trooper Justin O’Neal, a spokesperson for the Troopers, said the victim was Sergey Shuvalov, who lived in Rochester, N.Y.
Shuvalov was killed when the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van he was driving read-ended a 2019 Kenworth commercial vehicle just after noon on Wednesday.
The truck with which Shuvalov collided was being driven by a 25-year-old Mississippi man, Troopers said.
The wreck occurred on I-20/59 near Exit 69 around two miles south of Tuscaloosa.
Shuvalov was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash
No further details were available Thursday morning as Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the deadly accident.
