1 Dead in Wednesday Wreck on I-20/59 Near Tuscaloosa, Alabama

At least one person is dead following a Wednesday afternoon wreck on Interstate 20/59 near Tuscaloosa, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

"Cap" Ray Allen, Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa's traffic reporter, said he has confirmed that the wreck, which took place on the interstate's eastbound lanes near Exit 68, has claimed at least one life.

Traffic in the area is snarled but moving slowly, with one eastbound lane open.

State Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are working to clear the roadway and investigate the accident but were not immediately available to provide comment Wednesday afternoon.
