Rider Killed in Thursday Motorcycle Wreck in Walker County
A motorcycle rider was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Walker County, Alabama State Troopers have confirmed.
Senior Trooper Cody Farrar, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said 56-year-old Joseph K. McLendon was riding a 1986 Yamaha FZ600 when it left the roadway on New Oak Grove Road in Walker County.
Troopers said McLendon was fatally injured when the motorcycle struck a ditch and overturned, throwing him from the Yamaha.
The accident happened at 11:30 Thursday morning on New Oak Grove Road near Busby Church Road, which Troopers said is about two miles southeast of Nauvoo, where McLendon was a resident.
No other information was available Thursday as Farrar said Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
