The Thompson Warriors (7-2, 6-0) trounced the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats (5-3, 3-3) 49-7.

"They're getting a lot better, offensive line is getting better. Quarterback play, we got two really good quarterbacks that do a great job. We got to play them both tonight. The idea was tonight to plan 50/50. And we got to do that in the first half. Zach came out and played well. And then Trent came in and had a couple of really good throws. So I mean, it's coming along about like we wanted it to," said Thompson head coach Mark Freeman.

Thompson scored on its first four drives of the game. The first touchdown was scored on an explosive three-snap possession. Warriors running back AJ Green had two carries for 26 yards, including the 15-yard touchdown run.

The Warriors got the ball back after linebacker Jake Ivie recovered a Tuscaloosa County fumble. Thompson extended its lead with a one-snap, 19-yard touchdown run by Green, his second of the evening.

The dominant Thompson defense forced a Wildcats three-and-out to receive the ball again, then running back Michael Dujon scored the Warriors' next two touchdowns. The first was a 48-yard run, extending the Warriors lead 21-0. On its following possession, Dujon ran in a five-yard score to make Thompson's lead 28-0.

Warriors starting quarterback Zach Sims left the game in the second quarter. Backup quarterback Trent Seaborn entered and led Thompson down the field, going 2-of-3 for 42 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Deuce Oliver, extending Thompson's lead 35-0.

Thompson put one more score on the board prior to halftime. Warriors wide receiver Korbyn Williams caught an 11-yard touchdown pass as time expired to give Thompson the 42-0 lead heading into the break.

"Anytime you go on the road, you want to come out on the road and try to get up in the game, make things happen and create opportunity. We played a little bit more open here than we did at home in the past because we felt like hey, we're on the road. Let's go and let's create something let's make something happen," said Freeman.

The Warriors scored their last touchdown of the night on the opening drive of the second half. Thompson received the kickoff and drove 66-yards down the field. Green ran in an 11-yard touchdown, his third of the evening to give the Warriors the 49-0 lead.

"We got beat in every phase. Hats off to Thompson, they have a really good football team. They have better players at this point. We were outmatched in this game so you have to give them credit," said Tuscaloosa County head coach Adam Winegarden.

Wildcats quarterback Sawyer Deerman exited the game late in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Braden Smith came in and led Tuscaloosa County's touchdown drive, capped off by a 36-yard pass to wide receiver Jordan Chambers-Smith to avoid the shutout.

"Next week is the game that really counts for us. If we can beat Vestavia, then we go to the playoffs. That's where out focus has to shift and we have to turn the page to this one fast and move on," said Winegarden.

Next week, the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats travel to Vestavia Hills (4-4, 3-3) and the Thompson Warriors host the Hoover Buccaneers (8-1, 6-0). Both kickoffs are set for 7 p.m. CT.
