13 Tuscaloosa County Schools Delay Monday Start After Damaging Storms
The last Monday of the academic year will begin late for more than a dozen schools in Tuscaloosa County after a round of storms caused widespread tree damage this weekend.
In a Sunday announcement, the Tuscaloosa County School System said all its schools in the Northside and Tuscaloosa County High School feeder systems will have a two-hour delay before Monday classes as the last week of instruction begins.
Cleanup efforts are still underway all over north Tuscaloosa County.

In their announcement, TCSS said faculty and staff should also come in two hours later than normal reporting time, and bus pickup will run on a two-hour delay.
"If you live in the Northside or Tuscaloosa County High Attendance Zones and roads that you travel to school are closed, or you feel they are unsafe, your student's absence will be excused for Monday, May 19," the system said.
Bus routes will be declared passable or impassable on a case-by-case basis.
Other TCSS schools outside those feeder systems will have a regular Monday morning.
