Christians To Gather For Prayer Outside The State House Today
A group of Alabama Christians will conduct a prayer service on the front steps of the State House building in Montgomery later this morning. The annual event will run from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. while state lawmakers conduct business during the second week of the 2026 regular session.
The event is organized by the Alabama Citizens Action Program (ALCAP) and is being promoted by Eagle Forum of Alabama. Both are conservative action groups.

ALCAP focuses on moral issues, including gambling, legalization of marijuana, and abortion. ALCAP is billed as “Alabama’s Moral Advocates.” They represent close to 3,500 churches of various denominations.
Eagle Forum of Alabama is this state's wing of a national organization setup to provide timely, reliable information from a conservative view on public policy issues that affect the family.
Members of the general public are invited to join with other Christians from across the state at the rally. No ticket, no charge and no reservations are needed according to an event press release. Parking is limited around the Statehouse and capitol complex due to legislative committee meetings and to construction of the new State House.
The press release states, "we will lift up the leaders of our state government in prayer and seek God’s guidance and wisdom for Alabama."
Another group participating in the prayer session is The Concerned Women of America, Legislative Action Committee (CWA) which encouraging attendees to adopt a legislator, pray for them regularly, and send them a CWA-provided Scripture card twice a month to encourage them throughout the legislative session.
