Barry Moore Takes U.S. Senate Win, Wahl Gets Lt. Gov. In GOP
The final Democrat and Republican nominees for statewide and legislative offices have been decided by today's party primary runoffs. The nominees in congressional districts 1,2,6, and 7 will be elected in the August 11th special election.
As expected, the voter turnout was low with the combination of traditionally lower runoff turnout and rainy weather impacting the balloting. A total of 408,740 ballots were cast statewide out of 3,812,426 registered voters in the state. That reflects a sad 10.72% turnout.
Aside from the candidates, there were two major winners that emerged from today's balloting the Alabama Farmer's Federation (ALFA) and Presidents Trump, who endorsed candidates in most races.
ALFA proved its power by defeating several legislators who dared cross them during this past legislative session. Trump's endorsements proved to be a major factor as well.
With all of Alabama's 67 counties reporting their vote count to the Alabama Secretary of State's Office, here are the official returns.
United State Senator:
- Democrat - Dakarai Larriett 41,779 (45.41%), Everett Wess 50,229 (54.59%)
- Republican - Jared Hudson 137,340 (44.20%), Barry Moore 173,418 (55.80%)
Lt. Governor:
- Republican - John Wahl 175.724 (56.99%), Wes Allen 132,625 (43.01%)
Attorney General:
- Republican - Jay Mitchell 137,412 (44.93%), Katherine Robertson 168,424 (55.07%)
Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries:

The next trip to the polls is set for August 11th's special election.
