Sitar Indian Cuisine, the only Indian restaurant in Tuscaloosa, will be moving from its original location at the corner of 15th Street and Hackberry Lane.

The restaurant's owners announced their impending closure in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon. While there are no details indicating why the restaurant is relocating, this announcement follows a similar move made by their neighbor, Ichiban Japanese Grill, last month.

Ichiban's owners explained that they were being evicted to make way for a new development at that location.

The restaurant will close on March 20 but the owners plan to find a new location to continue serving their loyal customers authentic Indian cuisine.

"We have made so many amazing memories here with all of you since we opened our doors in 2004," the social media statement read. "We would love to see as many of you as possible before the 20th to join us in saying goodbye to our old location."

The new Sitar location is yet to be determined but it seems as though a groundbreaking for the beloved local eatery is in the works for the near future.

"Our new location will be a fresh start for Sitar, and every effort will be put into making it the best Sitar possible," the statement continued. "Keep your eyes on our Facebook page for moving updates, construction progress, and grand opening dates as things progress!"

The Tuscaloosa Thread will provide more updates about the restaurant's new ventures as they are made public. Stay connected.
