SEC Announces Season Awards, Bama Transfer Wins Player of the Year

The Southeastern Conference announced its annual season awards for softball on Friday with four from the Crimson Tide being listed to All-SEC teams. Seniors Montana Fouts and Ashley Prange were both select to the conference’s first team while sophomore Bailey Dowling and senior Ally Shipman appear on the second team.

It was also released, however, that former Alabama outfielder KB Sides won the 2022 SEC Player of the Year with Arkansas after spending four years with the Tide in Tuscaloosa. Sides made 143 starts in an Alabama uniform before using her last year of eligibility to transfer to Fayetteville.

Arkansas is the No. 5 ranked team in the country at the moment and ended its regular season with an SEC championship.

Sides’ honor is the first SEC Player of the Year award given to the Arkansas softball program since its inception in 1997.
