Richard Manderson, 71, of Coaling, Alabama, passed away on April 24, 2026.

Richard Conrad Manderson was known for his strength, kindness and most definitely his humor. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He worked at BF Goodrich for 21 years, retiring in 2006.

He loved being outside, hunting and fishing, making things and doing projects around the house. His presence brought comfort, lots of laughter and wisdom to those around him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Shirley Edward Manderson and his mother, Conchetta (Connie) Duragano Manderson; his sister, Shirley Sexton; and his grandmother, Erma Tatum (Ward).

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Sheri Manderson. His brother David Manderson (Vickie), Leon Manderson (Erica). His children are Mike Manderson of Moundville, Debi Hunter (Steve Boone) of Northport and CarlieJoy (CJ) Laharne (Isaac) of Port Angeles, Washington.

His grandchildren Rylei LaFoy (Chris Dougherty) of Birmingham, Alabama. Dawson Hunter (Jacey Lynn Burns) of Northport, Alabama and Kylee Dunford (Trenton Dunford) of Dothan, Alabama. As well as his great grandkids Easton Brett LaFoy, Camden Myles LaFoy, Caiden Pierce LaFoy and Hensley Raine LaFoy all of West Blocton, Alabama, Jade Dunford, Tatum Dunford, Crew Dunford, and Isla Dunford of Dothan, Alabama. His nieces and nephews, Monica Sexton Evans (Cliff), Ashley Joiner (Jack), Harold Sexton, Mike Sexton, Jason Manderson, Lynn Wayne Morrison (Ms. Lynn) Morri-Bee Morrison (Denise), Joe Bryant Morrison (Angie), Brett Morrison (Deanna).

He loved all his family so much! His nephews, Lynn Wayne Morrison, Morri (Bee) Morrison, Mike Sexton & Jason Manderson, did a lot for him to help him with so many things. His niece Monica Sexton Evans helped him.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather (we call Pappys), Uncle, Friend! Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his witty sense of humor, love and kindness to all those around him! He will always be remembered.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Magnolia Chapel South at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
