A quick-service sandwich shop on the Tuscaloosa Strip has closed after five years of serving students and visitors at the University of Alabama.

As the Thread reported at the time, Jersey Mike's opened on the Strip in Spring 2021, filling the space once held by Pita Pit.

The next year, the build-your-own-sub brand announced another location in Tuscaloosa, which remains open in the McFarland Plaza shopping center at the corner of McFarland Boulevard and Hargrove Road.

This week, though, Jersey Mike's at 1207 University Boulevard on the Strip is closed.

The sign has been removed from the building, and a note on the door says the doors are permanently closed. It directs customers to their other location on McFarland Boulevard.
