PHOTOS: Reproductive Rights Protest Held on Fourth of July in Downtown Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa Action hosted a reproductive rights protest at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Tuscaloosa Monday morning to protest the Supreme Court of the United States' June decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that guaranteed a woman's right to abortion.
The event features speakers from several organizations, including Tuscaloosa Action's co-founder Emily Altman and Robin Marty, a spokesperson for theWest Alabama Women's Center, where abortions were halted immediately last month after the court's decision was handed down.
As the Thread reported that day, Marty said the WAWC will shift its attention to directing the thousands of patients they see each year to clinics in states where abortion procedures are still legal.
