Police Arrest Suspected Drug Dealer After Chase, Crash in Pickens County, Alabama

Law enforcement officers in Pickens County arrested a suspected drug dealer after a short chase and a car crash Wednesday afternoon, according to Sheriff Todd Hall.

In a press release distributed Thursday, Hall said his office and the nearby Aliceville Police Department received tips from the 24th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force that illegal drugs would be brought through the area on Wednesday.

Hall said an Aliceville police officer and a Pickens County deputy working together spotted the suspect's car and attempted to pull him over, but the driver allegedly fled and attempted to escape the area.

The sheriff said after a brief pursuit, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and wrecked in a wooded area before fleeing on foot into the trees.

The two law enforcement officers quickly apprehended him, and were soon joined by officers from the Reform and Carrollton Police Departments, who recovered "a large cache" of illegal drugs from the man.

Hall said the suspect was identified as 39-year-old Kenya Hall, an Aliceville man.

He was charged with attempting to elude police, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp.

Curry was booked in the Pickens County Jail Wednesday evening, but was released a few hours later on a combined $5,900 bond.
