Two people were hospitalized after an early morning fire destroyed a home, two cars and a boat in the Northwood Lake neighborhood of Northport Tuesday.

Jason Norris, a public information officer for the Northport Fire Rescue service, said crews responded to a home in the 4600 block of Pelican Avenue around 3:45 Tuesday morning.

A single-family residence was fully involved in a fire when NFR arrived on the scene, Norris said, and residents were inside at the time but were awoken by the blaze and escaped significant harm.

Norris said an ambulance took two people to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Norris said the home, two vehicles and one boat were counted as total losses in the conflagration.

No city personnel were injured fighting the fire, Norris said.
