Christmas and all the local festivities are ramping up as we get closer to the 25th.

The city of Northport has been hosting “Dickens Downtown” for several years and it has become quite popular with families in West Alabama.

The event features a multitude of Northport businesses offering giveaways and great deals on items for your Christmas list.

The festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. followed by all vendors opening their booths until 8:00 p.m.

Dickens Downtown is known as an outdoor Victorian Christmas celebration with re-enactments of Charles Dickens's famous “A Christmas Carol” during the evening.
