
Dr. Thomas E. Jones Named as New Central High School Principal
Central High School has named its new principal, effective June 2025.
The Tuscaloosa City School system approved Dr. Thomas E. Jones's hire at its regularly scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, May 6.
Who Is Dr. Thomas E. Jones?
Dr. Jones has over 30 years of experience as an educator and has served as principal of Huntsville's Columbia High School since 2022.
Holding a doctorate in education from Samford and education specialist and master's degrees from Alabama A&M, Jones earned his bachelor's in human resources from the University of Alabama at Huntsville. A UAH hall of fame inductee and member of its Alumni Relations Board, he is also a CLAS Certified Instructional Leader.

“I am excited, honored, and humbled to join Tuscaloosa City Schools and become part of a district that is committed to excellence and equity,” Jones said.

“Dr. Jones is a leader of deep integrity and experience, and comes with the highest recommendations from current Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Clarence Sutton, who was also an outstanding former principal at Central High School,” Daria said.
